ALESSANDRO PIERPAOLO BARIS

 

Alessandro Baris is an Italian-American multi-instrumentalist, composer and electronic music producer.  

Intimate and intense, detailed and evocative, his musical language is a continuous research through an instinctive process of deconstruction and reconstruction, affected by his love for experimentation.

He was introduced to music when he took to learning the drums; then later, the guitar. He also studied Electronic Music Production and Sound Processing at the Conservatory of Music, Tempo Reale and Rai in Florence.

In 2022 Alessandro has released his debut solo album “Sintesi” anticipated by the singles “Last Letter to Jayne” feat. Lee Ranaldo of Sonic Youth, “Embers” feat. Emma Nolde and “Nival ” feat. Lisa Papineau.
His solo work is also tightly connected to visual art through his collaboration with visual artists Luigi Honorat and Fabio Volpi who have designed and developed the visuals for the singles and for his live set.

Over the years his versatility and commitment to music and sound leaded him to work extensively live and in studio with a with range of bands and artists, across a variety of genres, in Europe and the United States including L’Altra, Pinhdar, A Toys Orchestra, Egle Sommacal (Massimo Volume), JoyCut, Pulseprogramming, C’mon Tigre, Collisions, Comfort, Paul Savage (Delgados, Mogwai) with notable performances and festival appearances that include: CMJ (New York), Europavox (Wien), Alcatraz (Milan) Proximos (Santa Cruz de Tenerife), Eurosonic (Groningen), Tanned Tin (Valencia), Robot (Bologna), Centre des Arts (Paris), Kento’s (Shanghai), Dancity (Foligno), Club101 (Beijing), Sala Nasti (Madrid), Schubas (Chicago), Monk (Roma), Ancienne Belgique (Brussels), Tedx (Luxembourg), Petit Formant (Barcelona), Cameo Gallery (Brooklyn) amongst others, sharing the stage with artists such as Trentemoeller, Rafael Anton Irisarri and Daniela Pes.

Alessandro is also active as a composer and performer on soundtracks for silent films – his soundtrack renditions include Un Chien Andaloù, Berlin die sinfonie der großstadt , Das cabinet des Dr. Caligari and La Jetèe .

As an established drummer a special support to Alessandro’s work and sound comes from his endorsement with UFIP cymbals.
